Owner Benny Diasparra comes from a long line of family in the deli, produce, gourmet food, specialty grocery, and catering business originating in Manhattan, New York in the early 1900s.
More recently, his father enjoyed 25 years of success on the North shore of Long Island where he owned a gourmet market, caterer, and prime butcher shoppe. Between 8-13 years old owner Benny would visit with his father at their family store working part time behind the bakery counter, and gelato bar. As he got older commuting to his fathers store became inconvenient with school so he took local jobs in his home town of east meadow at pizzerias, and bagel stores and there began his education in the deli and prepared food business. When he was in his late teens and early 20s he took on the family business learning every aspect from cooking, purchasing, book keeping, management, merchandising, butchering, and more.
After his father sold the business in 2008, Benny, at the young age of just 22 years old, decided to continue the legacy by opening a gourmet sandwich shoppe, deli, grocery, and caterer of his own in his home town of East Meadow, NY. With friends, family and his future wife Meaghan by his side, Benny opened Nina's Deli and Catering (named after his grandmother).
Today, Nina's Deli and Catering has become a well known and beloved staple in the community for deli goods, fresh bread, great breakfast/ lunch options, prepared food and especially fine catering of traditional and modern Italian recipes.
